seamus finnigan.

Appearance.
With sandy hair falling over his eyes and a haphazardly done red-and-gold striped tie, Seamus doesn’t really care about his appearance. He isn’t really all that tall, but he’s not short, either, coming in at five-foot-eight. Seamus is of average build, not skinny, but not all that pudgy. He has hazel eyes and fair skin, wrinkly clothes and a stubbly chin at times when he’s too lazy to shave.

History.
Seamus’ mum, Anne, is a witch who fell in love with an Irish Muggle named Aidan Finnigan. She didn’t bother telling him that she was a witch until after they were married and Seamus was cooking in the oven, much to his surprise. She just didn’t think it was all that important, and she didn’t want to frighten him away. Aidan was at first completely mystified by his wife, and ended up finding it really cool that she could make dinner in a snap.

When Seamus was born (which so happened to be the fifth of March, 1980), the Finnigan household on the countryside was raucous and hell-raising instead of the traditional quiet and serene. Seamus displayed signs of magic at an early age, and his father oftentimes found himself tripping over small knickknacks that he swore he just put back on the shelf. He would look out the window and find his only son sitting up on the vine-covered stone wall that surrounded their house, and he knew it wasn’t natural, especially since the front doors were locked and the windows were too high for little Seamus to reach.

Naturally, his mum was thrilled when Seamus got his letter to attend Hogwarts. She owled the entire family, and, of course, an impromptu celebration was held, where Seamus’ uncle Darraugh proceeded to knock over a table filled with mini sandwiches. It took almost a minute to sort Seamus into Gryffindor. He was originally going to be placed in Hufflepuff, but at the most crucial moment he saw a pretty girl sitting at the Gryffindor table and decided that later in the evening, he would talk to her. Hence, Gryffindor was the name the Sorting Hat shouted.

Personality.
Seamus Finnigan is your average kid. He does well enough in school, takes all the courses he needs to take and does as well as expected (no one's counting on him to pass History of Magic, really) and doesn't really overtax himself like some of his classmates. Why bother working when there are better things to be doing with your time?

An avid Quidditch fan, yet secretly terrified of heights, Seamus is always seen at his school’s games, or reading magazines about the pros, but not necessarily playing unless he‘s needed. Easily, his favorite team in the British League is the Kenmare Kestrels of Ireland. Seamus could go on and on about how favourite players, moves, and strategies. Most of the time, no one really sticks around to listen to him. He still talks about seeing the Irish National Team at the Quidditch World cup, though, he really can’t remember too much of it, having celebrated heavily afterwards with his family. He also happens to hate Chess (he loses a lot), loves Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans (a thrill every time!), and likes watching the sun come up behind the Whomping Willow.

Seamus is a friendly kid, usually. He’ll talk to almost anyone (barring Slytherins), and is pretty funny/flirty/whatever. He likes socialising, partying, whatever, and most of the time he enjoys himself. However, Seamus can be extremely bad-tempered, fighting with his friends and basically being a brat. This also can occur when he’s had a bit too much to drink. Seamus doesn’t want to admit it, but he’s been drinking more and more as the years have passed. He doesn’t really want anyone to think he has a problem, but he won’t tell anyone about his habits. He just thinks it’s natural. When drunk, Seamus is mostly uncontrollable. His speech gets slurred and his brogue is worse than normal. He says and does things he should not do. Through all this, he’s fiercely protective and will without hesitation punch someone in the face for his mum’s honor.
